Follow your gut

Health-Ade began at a farmers market.

Health-Ade is a lesson in premium craft from humble roots. Founded in 2012 in Los Angeles by a trio — Daina Trout (a nutritionist and CEO), her husband Justin Trout, and her best friend Vanessa Dew — it started with home-brewed kombucha sold at the Brentwood Farmers’ Market. That small-batch, quality-obsessed origin still defines the brand.

Health-Ade is known for brewing in small batches and bottling in glass, using organic, non-GMO, cold-pressed ingredients. It has grown into one of the country’s leading kombucha brands — generally cited as second to GT’s — with a colourful range of flavours from Pink Lady Apple to Ginger-Lemon, plus a bubbly line.

(Honest notes: there are three founders — do not omit Vanessa Dew; the brand is a glass-bottle premium kombucha; and on ownership, Health-Ade was acquired in 2025 by Butterfly Equity’s Generous Brands (a reported ~$500M deal) from prior investors, so it is private-equity-owned rather than independent. No official brand hex is published, and flavours rotate.)

Colour

Health-Ade lives in a bright, playful palette. Click a swatch to copy the hex.

Health-Ade’s identity is bright, playful and approachable-premium — a berry pink, a sunny gold, a teal, a cream, and a plum. Each flavour is keyed to its own vivid colour, so the range reads as a cheerful set on shelf, while the tall glass bottle keeps it feeling premium. It signals a fun-but-quality gut-health brand rather than a clinical wellness product. The honest caveat: with no published brand hex, these tones are an original, unofficial interpretation, not first-party values.

The lesson is bright, flavour-coded colour reads as friendly and premium at once. Health-Ade’s world is warm and optimistic. For designers, it is a reminder that vivid per-flavour colour on a premium glass bottle can make gut health feel joyful rather than medicinal, matching a “love your gut” voice. The takeaways: colour-code by flavour; keep a warm cream as the connective ground; and treat any single hex as unofficial — using the plum for small text so the brights stay lively.

Typography

The wordmark spirit is a rounded sans — warm and playful.

Health-Ade’s identity carries a warm, playful, gut-friendly spirit — a rounded “Health-Ade” wordmark with a heart-forward feel. A rounded sans captures the mood: it is friendly and approachable, the register of a brand whose tagline is “We followed our gut so you could too.” Set against bright, flavour-coded bottles, the rounded sans feels cheerful and human — exactly the “love your gut,” conversational personality Health-Ade carries. It is warm rather than clinical, mirroring a fun take on wellness. (Health-Ade’s real wordmark is a trademark we describe but do not reproduce, and the exact typeface is not something we assert.) Because the specific mark is not ours to use, the honest description is “a rounded sans spirit,” not the Health-Ade logo. The type behaves like the brand: warm, playful and friendly.

Joyful wellness as the difference

Health-Ade stands for gut health made fun.

Health-Ade is a lesson in making wellness feel joyful. It did not present gut health as a chore; it made it bright, playful and premium — a farmers-market craft brewed in glass, dressed in cheerful, flavour-coded colour, with a warm “love your gut” voice. That combination of quality and joy turned a market stall into a national brand. The differentiator is tone: take something functional and make it feel like a treat.

For designers and brand-builders, Health-Ade offers a clear takeaway: a warm, colourful system can make a health product approachable without cheapening it. The lessons: keep the premium cue (glass, small-batch); let vivid per-flavour colour and a rounded wordmark carry the joy; and speak in a human, gut-friendly voice. It is also a reminder to stay accurate: Health-Ade has three founders, began at a farmers market in 2012, and is now private-equity-owned — with the palette here an unofficial interpretation. Health-Ade made wellness fun — proof that tone can be the difference.
