Brew Dr Brand Guidelines
Kombucha born in a tea house.

Two constants: a botanical-green palette and a clean sans. Abstract homage — not the Brew Dr wordmark or logo.
Elevate your tea
Brew Dr grew out of a tea house.
Brew Dr is a lesson in craft that starts with the tea. Founded by Matt Thomas, the kombucha began in 2008, brewed in the basement of his Townshend’s Tea House in Portland, Oregon using the same teas served to guests. Its whole identity flows from that tea-forward, botanical origin.
Brew Dr is certified organic across every flavour (also Non-GMO, gluten-free, vegan, kosher and raw), and it is distinctive for removing the alcohol produced during fermentation — using a non-heat “spinning cone column” so live cultures survive — to sit below the non-alcoholic threshold. Flavours like Clear Mind, Happiness and Love lean on real tea and botanicals rather than heavy sweeteners.
(Honest notes: “non-alcoholic” here means below 0.5% ABV, not zero; Brew Dr does use some organic juice and fruit essences, so it is not “no juice at all”; on ownership, a 2018 investment from Castanea Partners was a minority stake — founder Matt Thomas retained control, so it remains founder-led; it is a Certified B Corporation; and no official brand hex is published.)

Brew Dr’s identity is botanical, organic and tea-forward — a botanical green, a herb sage, a golden tea, a cream, and a bark brown. The palette reads like a tea house: green herbs, golden brewed tea, natural neutrals. It signals an organic, plant-forward kombucha rather than a sugary soda. The honest caveat: with no published brand hex, these tones are an original, unofficial interpretation, not first-party values.
The lesson is botanical greens and golden tea read as organic and tea-forward. Brew Dr’s world feels calm and plant-based. For designers, it is a reminder that a green-and-gold, botanical palette can signal “real tea, real botanicals,” matching a brand born in a tea house. The takeaways: build on botanical greens and a golden tea tone; keep neutrals natural; and treat any single hex as unofficial — using the bark brown for small text so the greens stay fresh.

The wordmark spirit is a clean sans — botanical and calm.
Brew Dr’s identity carries a clean, botanical, calm spirit — a “Brew Dr.” wordmark (note the period) set against plant-forward cues, with a friendly sloth mascot signalling slow craft. A clean sans captures the mood: it is clear and natural, the register of a brand whose tagline is “Elevate Your Tea.” Set against botanical greens, the clean sans feels organic and considered — exactly the tea-forward, “brew right, do right” personality Brew Dr carries. It is calm rather than loud, mirroring a slow, botanical brew. (Brew Dr’s real wordmark is a trademark we describe but do not reproduce, and the exact typeface is not something we assert.) Because the specific mark is not ours to use, the honest description is “a clean sans spirit,” not the Brew Dr logo. The type behaves like the brand: clean, botanical and calm.

Tea-forward craft as the difference
Brew Dr stands for real tea and botanicals.
Brew Dr is a lesson in letting the ingredient lead. It did not start as a beverage brand chasing a trend; it grew from a tea house, and it kept tea and botanicals at the centre — certified organic, alcohol removed so live cultures remain, real botanicals over heavy sweeteners. That tea-forward integrity is the whole story. The differentiator is provenance of craft: start with real tea, and the rest follows.
For designers and brand-builders, Brew Dr offers a clear takeaway: a botanical, organic identity should look as clean as the ingredient story. The lessons: build on a green-and-gold botanical palette; keep the wordmark clean and calm; and let real certifications (organic, B Corp) and a genuine tea-house origin carry the claim. It is also a reminder to stay accurate: Brew Dr began in a Portland tea house in 2008, removes alcohol to below 0.5%, and remains founder-led after a minority investment — with the palette here an unofficial interpretation. Brew Dr led with the tea — proof that the ingredient can be the difference.
