Rückl Brand Guidelines
The Bohemian cut.

Two constants: a cranberry-and-gold palette and an elegant serif register. Abstract homage — not a Rückl piece or wordmark.
The Bohemian cut
Rückl hand-cuts and blows Bohemian crystal at Nižbor, revived by design.
Rückl is a lesson in reviving a tradition through design. A Czech glassworks at Nižbor, it hand-blows and hand-cuts Bohemian crystal — a heritage house relaunched around a contemporary design vision.
Its identity is the Bohemian cut. Rückl’s hand-blown, hand-cut lead crystal — including richly coloured cased glass and cut patterns, refreshed by contemporary design — is the work it is known for. Bohemian crystal, made current. Heritage, re-cut.
(Honest notes: Rückl is a Czech crystal house at Nižbor in central Bohemia, with a glassmaking lineage the Rückl family traces to 1846, though the Nižbor glassworks itself dates to 1903 — so we keep those two dates distinct rather than conflating them. Around 2017 the company was creatively relaunched under art director Rony Plesl, reviving Bohemian crystal through contemporary design. Its signature is hand-blown, hand-cut lead crystal — coloured overlay and cased glass, cut patterns, and design collaborations alongside Plesl’s own work. On production, it is genuinely made at Nižbor in Czechia. On ownership, an honest note: it is no longer family-independent — it has been investor-owned since around 2016–2017 (associated with Martin Wichterle and the Wikov industrial group). The Plesl designs, cut patterns and collection names are IP we describe but don’t reproduce. There’s no official brand hex — these tones are an unofficial interpretation. This is design commentary and does not promote any product.)
Colour
Rückl lives in a cranberry-and-gold palette. Click a swatch to copy the hex.
Rückl’s identity is rich, crafted and current — a cranberry, an ink, a gold, a graphite, and a crystal white. The palette leans cranberry and gold — the register of coloured cased crystal and gilded Bohemian richness. It signals heritage and craft rather than novelty. The honest caveat: with no published brand hex, these tones are an original, unofficial interpretation, not first-party values.
The lesson is a cranberry-and-gold palette signals Bohemian crystal. Rückl’s world is a rich, crafted, current object. For designers, it is a reminder that a heritage — Bohemian crystal — can be the whole identity when it is revived with a clear contemporary vision, and that a rich, jewel palette signals that lineage. Because a mid cranberry can fail as small text, keep type dark and let the colour live in the accents, palette and band. The takeaways: revive the tradition; keep the cutting by hand; give it a design direction; and treat any single hex as unofficial.
Typography
The register is an elegant serif — refined, crafted, current.
Rückl’s identity carries a refined, crafted, current spirit — a rich, hand-cut object. An elegant serif captures the mood: it is refined and confident, the register of revived heritage. Set in a cranberry-and-gold palette, the elegant serif feels refined and crafted — exactly the personality Rückl carries. It is heritage made current rather than merely old, mirroring re-cut Bohemian crystal. (Rückl’s real pieces, cuts and wordmark are works we describe but do not reproduce, and the exact typeface is not ours to use.) Because it is not ours to use, the honest description is “an elegant serif spirit,” shown here in a stand-in. The type behaves like the brand: refined, crafted and current.

Reviving a tradition through design
Rückl stands for the Bohemian cut.
Rückl is a lesson in making a revived tradition the identity. A cranberry-and-gold palette, an elegant serif and hand-cut crystal make Bohemian glass the whole brand — rich, crafted, current. The revival is the differentiator. The differentiator is direction: a heritage crystal works given a clear contemporary design vision, so the cutting reads as alive rather than nostalgic.
Put to work, the identity is heritage plus direction as design. A house building in this spirit would protect a real craft — hand-blowing and hand-cutting crystal — while appointing a strong creative voice to keep it current, so tradition becomes a living language. The lesson Rückl teaches is that a heritage plus a design vision can build a brand: genuine Bohemian craft, an own Nižbor works, and a refined, current design language give it an authority a new label can’t buy. The tradition is the foundation, and the design vision is the proof it is still moving.
For designers and brand-builders, Rückl offers a clear takeaway: revive a tradition with a clear vision. The lessons: keep the craft by hand; give it direction; make heritage current; and be honest about the story. It is also a reminder to stay accurate: the Rückl family lineage dates to 1846 but the Nižbor glassworks to 1903, and the company is now investor-owned rather than family-independent — the palette here is an unofficial interpretation. And it is a reminder that made-where honesty can be a genuine boast: Rückl is hand-made at Nižbor in Czechia, and that is worth stating plainly. Rückl made the Bohemian cut the brand — proof that a revived tradition can be the difference.
