Double vision
CPFM turns childlike play into a cult label.
Cactus Plant Flea Market (CPFM) is a lesson in childlike play as a design language. Founded in 2015 by Cynthia Lu in Brooklyn (with concepts brewing from 2012), the independent label built a cult following on playful, hand-drawn, deliberately imperfect design and scarce, handmade drops.
Its brand identity is playful, childlike and instantly recognisable — the signature four-eyed “double vision” characters, puffy raised “puff-print” lettering, and a soft, blurred wordmark. The feeling is joyful and handmade, blending casual streetwear with a high-fashion sensibility.
(Honest notes: CPFM is independent and founder-owned. Cynthia Lu got her start in the PR world of Pharrell Williams’s Billionaire Girls Club / Billionaire Boys Club orbit, and Pharrell was an early champion — but he is not an owner or co-founder. There’s no official brand hex, so the colours here are an unofficial interpretation.)
Colour
CPFM lives in playful, primary colour. Click a swatch to copy the hex.
CPFM’s identity is bright, playful and childlike — a sun yellow, a sky blue, a grass green, a coral, and a cream. Rather than one fixed brand colour, CPFM works in bright, primary-leaning colour and tie-dye — the palette of a child’s drawing. It signals joy, imperfection and play rather than polish. The honest caveat: with no published brand hex, these tones are an original, unofficial interpretation, not first-party values.
The lesson is bright, primary colour signals childlike joy. CPFM’s world is a hand-drawn cartoon. For designers, it is a reminder that a sunny yellow, a sky blue and a coral read as playful and handmade, right for a brand built on four-eyed characters and puff prints. The takeaways: use bright, primary colour; keep it hand-made; and treat any single hex as unofficial — using ink for small text so the brights stay joyful.
Typography
The register is a puffy rounded — bubbly and playful.
CPFM’s identity carries a playful, childlike, handmade spirit — four-eyed characters and puff-print lettering. A puffy, rounded display captures the mood: it is bubbly and friendly, the register of a puff print and a cartoon balloon. Set against primary colour, the puffy rounded feels bubbly and playful — exactly the personality CPFM carries. It is friendly rather than sharp, mirroring a raised puff print. (CPFM’s real wordmark and its characters are trademarks we describe but do not reproduce, and the exact brand lettering is not ours to use.) Because the marks are not ours to use, the honest description is “a puffy rounded spirit,” shown here in a stand-in. The type behaves like the brand: playful, childlike and handmade.

Play as identity
CPFM stands for handmade play.
CPFM is a lesson in making play the identity. A playful, primary palette, four-eyed characters and puff-print lettering make childlike joy the whole brand — handmade, imperfect, instantly recognisable. The play is the differentiator. The differentiator is a playful, childlike, handmade identity.
For designers and brand-builders, CPFM offers a clear takeaway: a joyful, handmade voice can be a brand. The lessons: keep it playful and imperfect; build recurring characters (the four-eyed faces); and use bright, primary colour. It is also a reminder to stay accurate: Pharrell championed CPFM but doesn’t own it, it’s a Brooklyn brand founded in 2015, and the palette here is an unofficial interpretation. CPFM made play the brand — proof that joy can be the difference.
