LRNCE Brand Guidelines

Two constants: a terracotta-and-Atlas-blue palette and a studio sans register. Abstract homage — not the LRNCE textiles, artwork or packaging.
The Marrakech studio
LRNCE turns an artist’s hand into textiles.
LRNCE is a lesson in an artist’s studio as a brand. Founded in 2013 by the Belgian designer Laurence Leenaert, it is a Marrakech-based studio making handmade goods — with an artist’s hand running through everything it makes.
Its identity is handmade, artist-led Moroccan craft. LRNCE makes textiles — rugs, blankets, wall hangings, cushions and table linen — alongside ceramics, embroidered artworks and clothing, all made in Marrakech with local artisans, in a playful, hand-painted, one-of-a-kind spirit. It began, in fact, with leather bags, then grew outward into cloth and clay. A studio where the maker’s hand is the design.
(Honest notes: LRNCE was founded in 2013 by the Belgian designer Laurence Leenaert and is based in Marrakech — so it is a European-founded studio producing with Moroccan artisans, not a Moroccan heritage brand, and we state that honestly. It began as a leather-bag brand before expanding into textiles, ceramics and clothing. Its textiles use hand-woven natural fabrics and Moroccan-wool embroidery, made by a team of forty-plus artisans. The gloss that “LRNCE” is “Laurence” without vowels is commonly repeated but unconfirmed, so we hedge it. There’s no official brand hex, and we reproduce no actual artwork or textile — these tones are an unofficial interpretation. This is design commentary and does not promote any product.)
Colour
LRNCE lives in a terracotta-and-Atlas-blue palette. Click a swatch to copy the hex.
LRNCE’s identity is handmade, artful and Moroccan-made — a terracotta, an ink, an Atlas blue, an ochre, and a sand. The palette pairs a terracotta with an Atlas blue — the register of a Marrakech artist studio. It signals hand and place rather than novelty. The honest caveat: with no published brand hex, these tones are an original, unofficial interpretation, not first-party values.
The lesson is a terracotta with an Atlas blue signals a Marrakech studio. LRNCE’s world is a hand-made, painterly object. For designers, it is a reminder that an artist’s own hand — translated into cloth by local artisans — can be the whole identity. Because a mid terracotta can fail as small text, keep type dark and let the colour live in the accents, palette and band. The takeaways: let the artist lead; make it by hand; honour the artisans; and treat any single hex as unofficial.
Typography
The register is a studio sans — handmade, artful, warm.
LRNCE’s identity carries a handmade, artful, warm spirit — a painterly Moroccan-made object. A clean geometric sans captures the mood: it is modern and quietly playful, the register of an artist’s studio. Set in a terracotta-and-Atlas-blue palette, the studio sans feels handmade and artful — exactly the personality LRNCE carries. It is expressive rather than corporate, mirroring hand-painted craft. (LRNCE’s real textiles, artworks and lowercase wordmark are works we describe but do not reproduce, and the exact typeface is not ours to use.) Because it is not ours to use, the honest description is “a studio sans spirit,” shown here in a stand-in. The type behaves like the brand: handmade, artful and warm.

An artist’s studio as a brand
LRNCE stands for handmade, artist-led craft.
LRNCE is a lesson in making the artist’s hand the identity. A terracotta-and-Atlas-blue palette, a studio sans and a hand-made object make artist-led craft the whole brand — handmade, artful, warm. The hand is the differentiator. The differentiator is one artist’s vision, realised by Moroccan artisans.
For designers and brand-builders, LRNCE offers a clear takeaway: let an artist’s hand run through everything. The lessons: let the artist lead; make it by hand; honour the artisans; and be honest about the story. It is also a reminder to stay accurate: it was founded in 2013 by Belgian designer Laurence Leenaert in Marrakech, began with leather bags, and works with local artisans — the palette here is an unofficial interpretation. LRNCE made the artist’s hand the brand — proof that a studio can be the difference.
