Freedom through sport

Stolen Goat makes bold, expressive multi-sport kit.

Stolen Goat is a lesson in character as a brand. Founded in 2012 by Tim Bland in the UK, after he decided success should be measured by “richness of life” rather than a 40-hour week, the independent brand makes bold, expressive kit for cycling, triathlon and running, built to let riders “express individuality.”

Its brand identity is bold, characterful and community-driven — loud, self-expressive design and a playful voice (its blog is “The Bleat”). Its ranges are organised by climate (IBEX, KIKO, KALAHARI, ALPINE) and fit (EVERYDAY, ADVANCED), and its mission is “to inspire people to find freedom through sport.”

(Honest notes: Stolen Goat is founder-led and independent, designed in the UK but made in Europe (not “made in the UK”). Its sustainability story is refreshingly honest — a Lifetime Guarantee and Crash Damage Replacement, framed as “buy less, keep longer,” rather than certification claims. And there’s no official brand hex, so the colours here are an unofficial interpretation.)

Colour

Stolen Goat lives in a bold, characterful palette. Click a swatch to copy the hex.

Stolen Goat’s identity is bold, characterful and expressive — an ink, a teal, a coral, a mustard, and a bone. The palette pairs an ink with bold, characterful colour — teal, coral, mustard — the register of loud, self-expressive club kit. It signals individuality, fun and community rather than sober minimalism. The honest caveat: with no published brand hex, these colours are an original, unofficial interpretation, not first-party values.

The lesson is bold colour signals character and community. Stolen Goat’s world is a loud kit and a shared ride. For designers, it is a reminder that bold, playful colour reads as characterful and communal — right for a brand built on expressing individuality. The takeaways: anchor with ink; use bold, characterful colour; and treat any single hex as unofficial — using ink for small text so the colours stay bold.

Typography

The register is a friendly geometric — bold and characterful.

Stolen Goat’s identity carries a bold, characterful, playful spirit — self-expression and community. A friendly geometric sans captures the mood: it is bold and approachable, the register of a characterful, community-driven brand. Set in a bold palette, the friendly geometric feels bold and characterful — exactly the personality Stolen Goat carries. It is approachable rather than austere, mirroring expressive kit. (Stolen Goat’s real wordmark is a trademark we describe but do not reproduce, and the exact brand typeface is not ours to use.) Because the mark is not ours to use, the honest description is “a friendly geometric spirit,” shown here in a stand-in. The type behaves like the brand: bold, characterful and playful.

04

Character as identity

Stolen Goat stands for bold self-expression.

Stolen Goat is a lesson in making character the identity. A bold palette, a playful voice and a “freedom through sport” mission make self-expression the whole brand — bold, communal, characterful. The character is the differentiator. The differentiator is a bold, characterful, community identity.

For designers and brand-builders, Stolen Goat offers a clear takeaway: character can be a brand. The lessons: pick a clear personality (bold, playful); back it with a real voice (“The Bleat”); and make durability real (Lifetime Guarantee, Crash Replacement). It is also a reminder to stay accurate: it’s founded 2012 by Tim Bland, designed in the UK but made in Europe, and the palette here is an unofficial interpretation. Stolen Goat made character the brand — proof that personality can be the difference.

Editorial reference. This article reports publicly documented facts about Stolen Goat’s visual identity; it is not affiliated with, or endorsed by, Stolen Goat. The Stolen Goat name and wordmark are trademarks of their owner — the graphics here are original abstract homages (colour discs and swatches); no logo is reproduced, and all specimen text is set in a Google-Font stand-in, never in the Stolen Goat logo or typeface. Facts reported from public sources (stolengoat.com): Stolen Goat is an independent, founder-led British multi-sport apparel brand founded in 2012 by Tim Bland, making bold, characterful, self-expressive kit for cycling, triathlon and running — with a playful brand voice (its blog, “The Bleat”), ranges organised by climate (IBEX, KIKO, KALAHARI, ALPINE) and fit (EVERYDAY, ADVANCED), and the mission “to inspire people to find freedom through sport.” Honest notes: Stolen Goat is designed in the UK but manufactured in Europe (not “made in the UK”); its sustainability story centres on longevity — a Lifetime Guarantee and Crash Damage Replacement program (“buy less, keep longer”) — rather than certifications; and no official brand hex is published, so the colours here are an unofficial interpretation.
