Missoni Home Brand Guidelines
The zigzag.
Aa
Two constants: a multicolour palette and a zigzag sans register. Abstract homage — not the Missoni zigzag prints or packaging (the chevron is iconic and protected).
The zigzag
Missoni Home brings the chevron into the home.
Missoni Home is a lesson in a pattern as the whole brand. It is the interiors line of Missoni, the Italian house founded in 1953 by Ottavio “Tai” and Rosita Missoni — the house whose zigzag became one of fashion’s most recognisable signatures.
Its identity is the zigzag. From 1997, Rosita Missoni turned to interiors, reusing the house’s patterns to make Missoni Home — blankets, throws and cushions in the multicolour, space-dyed chevron that defines Missoni. The zigzag does the work: colour and pattern, brought into the home. A signature, translated to the sofa.
(Honest notes: Missoni was founded in 1953 by Tai and Rosita Missoni and is based in the Varese province of Lombardy (with a factory at Sumirago); the zigzag knit is its signature. Missoni Home is the interiors line Rosita developed from 1997, and it is reportedly produced under licence by a Lombardy textile firm (T'J Vestor / MissoniHome Collection) — we treat the licensing detail as reported. The house is family-controlled, with the Italian fund FSI taking a minority (41.2%) stake in 2018. As context, the executive Vittorio Missoni died in a 2013 plane disappearance off Venezuela — a factual, sensitive note. The zigzag is iconic and protected — we reproduce none of it — and there’s no official brand hex, so these tones are an unofficial interpretation. This is design commentary and does not promote any product.)
Colour
Missoni Home lives in a multicolour palette. Click a swatch to copy the hex.
Missoni Home’s identity is multicolour, bold and Italian — a flame, an ink, an ocean, a gold, and a berry. The palette leans multicolour — the register of the space-dyed chevron. It signals joyful colour rather than restraint. The honest caveat: with no published brand hex, these tones are an original, unofficial interpretation, not first-party values.
The lesson is a multicolour chevron signals Missoni. Missoni Home’s world is a riot of colour, ordered by the zigzag. For designers, it is a reminder that a single pattern, owned completely, can carry a brand from the runway to the living room. Because loud hues can fail as small text, keep type dark and let the colour live in the accents, palette and band. The takeaways: own a pattern; be maximalist with colour; translate it across categories; and treat any single hex as unofficial.
Typography
The register is a zigzag sans — multicolour, bold, Italian.
Missoni Home’s identity carries a multicolour, bold, Italian spirit — a chevron-patterned interior. A characterful contemporary sans captures the mood: it is confident and expressive, the register of a fashion house at home. Set in a multicolour palette, the zigzag sans feels bold and joyful — exactly the personality Missoni carries. It is expressive rather than plain, mirroring the chevron. (Missoni’s real zigzag prints and wordmark are works we describe but do not reproduce, and the exact typeface is not ours to use.) Because it is not ours to use, the honest description is “a zigzag sans spirit,” shown here in a stand-in. The type behaves like the brand: multicolour, bold and Italian.

A pattern as the whole brand
Missoni Home stands for the zigzag.
Missoni Home is a lesson in making a pattern the identity. A multicolour palette, a zigzag sans and a chevron-patterned throw make the zigzag the whole brand — multicolour, bold, Italian. The pattern is the differentiator. The differentiator is a signature so strong it moves from fashion to the home unchanged.
For designers and brand-builders, Missoni Home offers a clear takeaway: own one pattern completely. The lessons: own a pattern; be maximalist; translate across categories; and be honest about the story. It is also a reminder to stay accurate: the parent house was founded in 1953 by Tai and Rosita Missoni, Missoni Home dates from 1997, and it’s reportedly made under licence — the palette here is an unofficial interpretation. Missoni made the zigzag the brand — proof that a pattern can be the difference.
